IMPACT began at the University of Georgia in 1994 as Alternative Spring Break. The program was renamed in 2011 to reflect the organization's growth and changing mission that extends beyond traditional spring break service trips. IMPACT students spend their spring and winter breaks performing short term projects for community agencies and learning about issues such as poverty, racism, homelessness, healthcare, disaster relief, discrimination, social justice, and the environment.
